About Anthony DeMattee

Anthony DeMattee is a fifth-year doctoral student in the Joint Ph.D. in Public Policy, with specialties in public policy, comparative politics, and public administration & nonprofit management. He studies the politics and organizations of state-civil-society interactions in developing countries and how they affect democratic processes and distributive politics, with a regional focus on Africa and the Caribbean. Thanks to the generous support of the Ostrom Workshop and other funders, Anthony spent the Fall 2018 semester in Kenya conducting dissertation fieldwork and collecting data from archives, interviews, and participant observation. He is a Colorado native, Bloomington’s biggest Denver Broncos fan, and has run marathons on five continents.
