I identify myself as a political philosopher. My research interests focus on contemporary democratic theories and democratic backsliding. More recently, I have been interested in Hannah Arendt’s political theory. I believe that she is an extremely attractive political theorist in that she rightly appreciates active participation of ordinary citizens in the political realm and earnestly commits herself to its realization under modern political conditions. In this respect, her political philosophy can constructively redound to democracy, although the relationship between them is far from being simple but controversial.
I am South Korean. I stepped into this country in 2023 to begin the PhD program in our beautiful community of the department of political science at Indiana University. I want to settle down in this country as a scholar after graduation. Before moving here, I studied and earned my degrees in South Korea. I earned the bachelor's degree in sociology from Korea University and the master's degree in political science from Seoul National University.
