Political Methodology

Political Methodology

Conducting rigorous research and expanding the body of scholarship requires sound research methodology. Our department offers a suite of courses in quantitative methods, qualitative methods, modeling, and research design. These courses, ranging from the introductory statistics sequence, to qualitative methods in political science, to formal modeling, provide you with the essential toolkit you need for pursuing independent research in the discipline.

Our department participates in IU's Social Science Research Methods Program, which devises a graduate curriculum across social science units, and in the Workshop in Methods, which brings to campus seminars and presentations in advanced methodology by leading scholars. IU Political Science also has memberships with the Institute for Qualitative and Multi-Method Research and the Inter-University Consortium for Political and Social Research.
