The College's PPE minor will be offered beginning in the Spring 2025 semester and will bring a breadth of perspectives. Our cross-disciplinary program embodies the value of a liberal arts education in promoting critical thinking and intellectual civic-minded engagement. The program offers opportunities for students to interact with faculty from the three departments, as well as with guest lecturers from outside of IU.

PPE programs attract motivated students who are eager to think about important problems from different perspectives and wish to understand the forces that shape the modern world. Graduates join a network of PPE alumni who have gone on to have successful and meaningful careers.   

Our program helps students to develop the following skills:

• Analytical reasoning and critical thinking
• Decision making
• Leadership, organization, and networking
• Communication
• Data Analysis 

Graduates of PPE programs are prepared for a variety of careers in the public and private sector. Possible career paths include:

• Private sector: management, consulting, business administration, law, journalism, finance, and more
• Public sector and NGOs: government, public administration, politics, public policy, health care, non-profit organizations, foundations, union work.
• Academia: excellent preparation for law school, medical school, business school, and Master's or Ph.D. programs in the disciplines of philosophy, politics, and economics.

There are currently over 75 PPE programs in the U.S. and more than 100 in the world. In addition, students pursuing the minor join the Philosophy, Politics, and Economics Society, an international organization with the mission to encourage the interaction and cross-fertilization of three intellectual disciplines that are deeply intertwined and have much to offer one another.
