Fifteen years ago, in October 2009, our colleague, the late Elinor Ostrom (1934-2012), who held the Arthur Bentley Chair in Political Science, became the first female scholar to win the Nobel Prize in Economics. She presented her Nobel lecture, “Beyond Markets and States: Polycentric Governance of Complex Economic Systems” on December 8.
Her work remains an inspiration to many of us and an invitation to build upon it. Fifteen years later, we remember her and honor her legacy of academic excellence and collaboration.
