By IU Undergraduate David Rasmussen, President of the PPES Society
We are excited to announce the creation of the Philosophy, Politics and Economics Society (PPES) at Indiana University, a groundbreaking new interdisciplinary student organization marking the inception of Indiana’s first local chapter of the National PPE Society and consolidating student and faculty support for a PPE program at IU. The PPES vision has three parts:
- Forging a community where driven, ambitious students from across IU can find a place to connect and grow together
- Cultivating a culture of academic excellence in which students learn to engage with the challenging and nuanced issues most relevant to them from an interdisciplinary approach.
- Tracing a path of professional development by connecting students with resources in the IU community, enabling students to discover and enter professions they are truly passionate about.
At its heart, PPES is about changing the culture at Indiana University by encouraging productive dialogue, nuanced understanding, and critical thinking. We at PPES know that the key to successful professional development in college is to understand that your time at IU is so much more than just a stepping stone into the professional world, and we aim at rekindling in our members the passion for intellectual growth, dialogue, and debate that is the soul of higher education.
Join us in shaping the future of IU.
