An empirical analysis of national survey data to show that different types of party activists (e.g., those who donate money to the party, compared with those who campaign for a candidate or who try to influence other people's votes) have different types of social characteristics and political views, though they tend to be more extreme ideologically than non-activist party identifiers are.
