Congratulations to two of our successful alumnae, Tiffany Benjamin and Asma Khalid, as they have recently been selected by the College Alumni Board to receive a 2021 Outstanding Young Alumni Award!
Tiffany Benjamin is senior director, corporate responsibility and global health programs and serves as president of the Eli Lilly and Company Foundation. Ms. Benjamin received her undergraduate degree in Journalism and Political Science from IUB in 2002, followed by the receipt of law degree from Harvard Law School.
Asma Khalid is a political correspondent covering the 2020 presidential campaign for National Public Radio (NPR). Khalid, who was featured in a 2018 issue of The College magazine, got her start in broadcasting in her home state of Indiana, graduating in 2006 with her Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism and Political Science from Indiana University. Following her time at IU, she went on to earn her Master of Philosophy degree from the University of Cambridge in 2007.
One of our most recent IUB 2020 graduates, Lauren Meadows was awarded the 2020 James C. Gaither Junior Fellowship with the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace in Washington DC and is one of only 12 fellows selected for the 2020-2021 year. Meadows will be working in the Democracy, Conflict, and Governance (DCG) Program on issues related to populism, polarization, and political representation, both in the United States and internationally.
Tyler Combs, another recent IUB 2020 graduate and political science major, appeared on Jeopardy!'s 2020 College Championship this past April. Tyler made it all the way to the finals, finishing 2nd place and receiving a substantial cash prize. Way to go Tyler!
